Creative writing

death row

It’s the middle of winter, around 10 am. I watch as the hands on the clock slowly tick as if they were traveling at sloth speed. A man walks up to the iron bars that are separating us. I place my hands through the flap and I feel the tight handcuffs being placed on my wrists.

Hi Finlay,

Remember this is all about creating a setting that places your reader in that space, so that they can experience it as though they are there. Don’t focus on developing a narrative, focus on the description of the setting, this will place your reader in the location first.
Follow the structure outlined in the document and the class blog. This is absolutely essential for this assessment.
Look to use the Tarras example to see the types of detail to add and how to create a flow through your writing.

Keep at it

Hi Finlay,

I am concerned by the lack of writing on your assessment (but am unsure if you’ve had absences).

Make sure you work with focus in the remaining periods. Also ensure you stick to the task’s specifics (no first person pronouns and describe your scene).
