The hate you give- George Tillman Jr

The film title “The Hate You Give” comes from the Tupac song “The hate you give little infants f***s everything.” Tupac intended within his lyrics that the things black children endure growing up, subsequently make their lives worse as they grow older. while the film was still interesting and entertaining, it brought up a lot of controversial issues that happen in our society today. I was horrified that when Khalil got shot, the white police officer had no consequences for his actions that night. As there was no justice for his death, The people of garden heights, especially childhood best friend Starr carter took matters into their own hands. This was through street riots, testimonies in front of the court and even violence. This came down to the fact that because Khalil’s life didn’t matter in front of a judge, his whole community did the best they could to make everyone else aware of what crap black people have to endure just to live in this world today. The whole movie bases around the concept of black lives matter and the fact that they should share the same equality and respect as white people do. The film really did a good job of portraying the world that we live in today as these things do happen. People of South African descent do things like grabbing a hairbrush and police don’t question it and reach for their weapon. it is utterly stupid and unfair that just based upon the color of your skin, you deserve different treatment than others do. Racism and discrimination ages back decades and you would think that by now, we would have some sort of end to it but in reality, things are never gonna be exactly the way we want it to be.
